Congratulations on your decision to join C.A.P.

We know that as a new member things can get confusing as you try to do your best. A few of the resources below will help you with uniforms, procedures, and general info.

Also, Don’t be afraid to talk to other cadets in the unit. You will find they all were the new person once.

1. How do I earn my first promotion?
Visit Stipes To Diamonds Chart. It’ll tell you exactly what you need to do to become a Cadet Airman. And if your New Cadet Kit hasn’t arrived yet, you can download Chapter 1 Leadership of the leadership textbook. Also, ask your cadet staff the first steps you need to take to get your first promotion underway.  Note, there are many online  courses in eservices. Also, national CAP has a cadet information at http://members.gocivilairpatrol.com/cadet_programs/index.cfm .

2. Where’s my membership card?
You should receive your CAP ID card in the mail within 30 days of joining. If yours hasn’t arrived, please contact us.

3. What is my CAPID?
Your CAPID is a 6-digit identification number. It’s found on your membership card and in eServices.

4. What is eServices
eServices is your online membership record. Be sure to visit eServices, create your free account, and verify that we have your correct contact information. Maj Dan Routier created the The Guide to Starting eServices to help new cadets navigate through the program. Go To Getting Started Cadet eServices Testing

5. How do I get my free cadet uniform?
We ask that you sign up on this website then login.  Then go right to  Cadet Program Management  and requesting to join the  group.  One of the Cadet Activity Officers will be in contact with you to help walk you through  the process.

6. How am I supposed to wear my uniform?
Download the uniform mini-posters above (they’re also in your New Cadet Kit).For tips and tricks, visit Cadet Stuff. And for full details, see CAPM39-1. “CAP Uniform Manual.

7. How do I get insignia and patches for my uniform?
First, check with your squadron — they might have insignia for you. If not,you can purchase them from our vendor, Vanguard. Here’s a list of the insignia needed for the uniforms:

    Air Force Blues
    Flight cap device – CAP0748A  C
    3-Line nameplate (last name) – CAP0599M
    CAP cutouts – CAP0820

 

  • Uniform Camouflage
    Cloth nametape (blue tape stitched with your last name) – CAP0599HA
    Civil Air Patrol cloth tape (blue tape)
    US Flag patch (reverse) – 4432430
    CAP cutouts – CAP0820
    Note: only one set of CAP cutouts is needed, even if the cadet has both uniforms

8. How do I get my cadet binder and textbooks?
About 30 days after joining, you should receive a New Cadet Kit in the mail. If you haven’t received yours after one month, please contact us.

9. What are some general hints that will help me get the most out of CAP?

10. Where do I go if I have more questions?
Talk with local leaders in your squadron, especially your Cadet Element Leader or Cadet Flight Sergeant. Their job is to help you succeed in CAP. You also might want to check out the CAP Knowledgebase and the articles and forums at Cadet Stuff. Moms and dads should visit our Parents’ Page.
